MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. - Mounties in Metro Vancouver say homicide investigators have been called after a man died from apparent gunshot wounds.
Ridge Meadows RCMP say officers responded to several shots-fired reports from a residential area west of Maple Ridge around 2 p.m. Thursday.
They say officers arrived to find an off-duty Vancouver police officer and an off-duty nurse trying to save the man, who died at the scene.
The Mounties say their investigation is in its early stages, and it's not yet known whether the alleged shooting is linked to gang conflict.
They're looking to speak with any witnesses who haven't yet come forward.
RCMP are also asking anyone with dash camera or home security video footage to contact the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
