Saskatchewan crash claims the lives of two B.C. residents, injures three others

VANCOUVER - A small community in B.C.'s Shuswap region has been hit hard by a fatal car crash in Saskatchewan.

Mounties say a 47-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman from Sorrento, B.C., were killed in a crash southwest of Saskatoon just after noon.

Police say a 42-year-old woman, a 16-year-old male, and a 13-year-old female have been taken to hospital.

Mounties say a west-bound car tried to pass a transport truck near the town of Rosetown but collided head-on with an east-bound SUV.

Police says it was raining at the time of the crash and visibility was restricted because of spray from the transport truck.

Names of the dead have not yet been released, and Mounties say both occupants of the SUV have also been taken to hospital.
