A 52-year-old man was killed in an all terrain vehicle crash in the Postill Lake area near Kelowna on Saturday.

A GPS distress signal was received from a device in the Postill Lake area near Wallaston Forest Service Road and Brunette Forest Service Road shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP members, paramedics and search and rescue volunteers from both Kelowna and Vernon responded to a report of a single vehicle crash involving an ATV in the rural and remote area.

A 52-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and a second person on the ATV, also a 52-year-old man, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, RCMP said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

RCMP said the identity of the person killed will not be released to the public citing the deceased’s privacy.
