Fast moving severe thunderstorm prompts warning for South Thompson, Nicola

Nickel-sized hail is a possibility this afternoon in the South Thompson and Nicola as a sever thunderstorm moves through the region.

Environment Canada has issued severe thunderstorm warnings for the South Thompson and Nicola regions, saying the storm is capable of generating hail the size of nickels.

The storm appeared about 20 kilometres northeast of Douglas Lake and roughly 30 km southwest of Monte Lake and was travelling northeastwards at a speed of 50 km/h. It was last reported about 10 km south of Chase.

Environment Canada reminds the public that large hail can damage property and cause injury.
