Expect to see Kamloops RCMP walking the streets this summer

KAMLOOPS – Warmer weather means more pedestrians and the Kamloops RCMP will also increase their presence in busy areas around the city.

RCMP members along with city bylaw officers and constables with the Canadian Pacific Police Service will conduct foot patrols in parks, downtown and the North Shore, according to an RCMP media release.

Officers will employ a zero tolerance policy when it comes to alcohol and drug offences, theft and vandalism, RCMP say.

Additionally, expect to see officers patrolling on bikes and boats over the summer.

"Both business owners and residents alike are supportive of the officer on the beat approach as it enhances the feeling of safety and security in our city. Please say hello when you see the officers on foot, bike or boat patrols, the Kamloops RCMP look forward to interacting with the community," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in the release.
