Expect some warm weather in the Okanagan this week

Okanagan residents can look forward to a mostly warm and sunny week ahead, although tomorrow could see clouds and some showers.

Okanagan residents can look forward to a sunny, warm week, marred only by the threat of showers on Tuesday.

Environment Canada says to expect sunny skies and temperatures of 13 C in Vernon and Kelowna. In Penticton temperatures as high as 15 C will give way to cloudy skies overnight, with a low of 4 C.

Vernon could see a few showers tonight through Tuesday, while Kelowna can expect a 30 per cent chance of showers overnight tonight, rising to 60 per cent Tuesday, along with a high of 10 C  for both cities.

Penticton can expect partly cloudy skies tonight and a 30 per cent chance of showers Tuesday, with a high of 15 C.

Clouds and showers are expected to continue overnight Wednesday,  with a low of 4 C expected.

Wednesday and Thursday should see the sun return, with highs of 14 C and 16 C respectively.

The rest of the week should see temperatures gradually rise, from 19 C on Friday under sunny skies, to 20 C on Saturday and Sunday, under a mix of sun and cloud on both days.

Overnight lows are expected to stay above freezing after Wednesday night, when the temperature could dip to 0 C.

The normal average high temperature for Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton this week is 15 C and the and low 2 C.

Meanwhile, back east in Ontario, residents there are being warned of possible flooding as an intense storm brings rain, snow and wind to the province today.

Heavy rain is expected in southern and eastern Ontario, bringing with it strong wind gusts of 70 to 100 km/h which could cause power outages and shoreline flooding along the Great Lakes.

Parts of Northern Ontario could see 30 to 50 cm of snow through Tuesday, a bulletin from the Weather Network says.
