THOMPSON-OKANAGAN - Over 50 cm of snow has fallen on the Coquihalla Highway over the past couple days and even more is expected Saturday afternoon.

Environment Canada has continued the Special Weather Statement for the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope and Highway 3 from Princeton to Hope via the Allison Pass.

Another Pacific frontal system is headed toward the Southern Interior.

It’s expected to dump 15 to 25 cm of snow over the Coquihalla Summit and the Allison Pass by Sunday morning.

The Coquihalla between Merritt and Hope was closed for 3 hours Saturday morning for avalanche control. It reopened at around 10 a.m.

Check with Drive B.C. before you head out on the road.
