A snowfall warning for the Coquihalla Highway from Hope to Merritt that was issued yesterday has been updated to continue through until noon tomorrow.
A total of up to 30 centimetres of snow is expected today, March 2, and overnight.
“A frontal system will continue moving in from the north today and tonight,” the warning says. “Snow will intensify this morning and continue through tonight before easing to flurries near noon Friday.”
The B.C. Travellers Forecast shows only a 60% chance of flurries on the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops.
The Okanagan Connector from Merritt to Kelowna is expected to have two to four centimetres of snow today but only a 30% chance of flurries tonight and tomorrow.
For Okanagan residents opting for Highway 5 from Hope to Princeton, that’s going to be a difficult drive as well, with five to 10 cm of snow expected to fall today, another five cm tonight and two to four cm on Friday.
Heading east, Highway 1 through the Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass is expecting 10 cm of snow today, two to four cm tonight and another two to four cm on Friday when the snow level will be near valley bottoms.

For those staying in town, the forecast for Kamloops and Kelowna today shows a 60% chance of flurries this morning changing to a 60% chance of rain showers near noon with a risk of a thunderstorm this afternoon in Kamloops and the North and Central Okanagan.
Winds could gust to 50 km/h near noon. Highs of around 5 C are expected today with an overnight lows of about -3 C.
There’s a 60% chance of rain showers or snow flurries overnight in Kamloops, 30% in Kelowna.
This is good news for skiers as there is new snow on all area mountains, especially at Big White Ski Resort where 17 cm have fallen in the last 24 hours.
There were 14 cm of new snow at Silver Star Mountain. Only 3 cm fell at Sun Peaks Ski Resort and 6 cm at Apex Mountain Resort.
Flight delays and cancellations that plagued Vancouver and Kelowna airports earlier this week have been resolved, although the WestJet flight from Vancouver to Kelowna at 7:45 a.m. today was cancelled, along with the return flight at 9:15 a.m.
