The Ross Moore Lake Wildfire, 24 km south of Kamloops triggered hundreds of evacuation orders and alerts yesterday, July 23.
The fire was discovered at 1:48 p.m. Friday and, by 5:40 p.m. last night, had grown to 1,800 ha.
An evacuation order was issued for 344 properties in the Lac Le Jeune area at 7:30 p.m. last night by the Thompson Nicola Regional District and an alert issued for another 157 properties.
The City of Kamloops also issued an evacuation alert at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Knutsford area.
Evacuation alerts have also been issued because of two fires in the Adams Lake.
The Bush Creek East Wildfire was discovered on July 12 and has grown to 400 ha. It is about 23 km northwest of Chase and west of Adams Lake.
An evacuation alert was issued by the Thompson Nicola Regional District at 11 a.m. Sunday for 12 properties in the Fadar Creek Road area.
The East Adams Lake wildfire was discovered on July 12 and had grown to 2,000 ha as of 7:51 p.m. last night. An evacuation alert was issued for one property near McLeod Point at 4:30 p.m. yesterday.
All three fires were likely caused by lightning, according to BC Wildfire Service.
There are 483 active wildfires in BC with 59 in the Kamloops fire district. There were 28 new fires detected in the last 24 hours.
