Employee killed at Fountain Tire identified

KAMLOOPS - The name of a 36-year-old man who died in a work-related incident at Fountain Tire on Tuesday, Jan. 27 has been released.

He was Nicklas Jay Kristen Taylor, of Kamloops, according to the B.C. Coroner's Service.

The worker was fatally injured when he was unloading a trailer-load of tires and became trapped by a very large tire. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene of the accident was turned over to WorkSafe B.C. investigators who are continuing to collect data and information to plan for future safety provisions.

Scott McCloy, a spokesperson for WorkSafe B.C., said the incident report can take up to weeks or months to prepare as the investigation remains ongoing.
