KAMLOOPS - A Fountain Tire employee is dead after being pinned between a large tire and a vehicle this morning.

The director of media relations for WorkSafe B.C. confirmed RCMP has turned a scene over to investigators after an employee at Fountain Tire died Tuesday, Jan. 27. Scott McCloy said an occupational safety officer was dispatched to the business on Lafarge Road shortly after the incident. The scene will be investigated until the officer can determine what happened to prevent similar instances from occuring.

"We want to learn from this tragic event," McCloy said.

He was unable to comment on the individual who died.

Preet Grewal, a spokesperson for B.C. Ambulance Service, confirmed paramedics were dispatched at 6:02 a.m. but no patient transfer was required.
