KELOWNA - A Canadian figure skating legend is coming to Kelowna next May as part of the Stars on Ice tour.
After a 10-year absence, Elvis Stojko, the two-time Olympic silver medalist, three-time World Champion and seven-time Canadian Champion, is returning to Stars on Ice, Canada’s premier figure skating tour.
The tour will be at Prospera Place May 18 for a one-night show that also features Olympic gold medalists Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Olympic silver medalist Patrick Chan and 2015 World Champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford.
The last time Stojko performed with Stars on Ice was 2006, since then he’s been inducted into the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame, written a book about his career, appeared in a stage production of Chicago, become a professional go-kart racer, won a Kung Fu championship and married Mexican figure skater Gladys Orozco.
Stars on Ice was founded in 1986 by skating icon and Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton. In 1991, Stars on Ice began to tour Canada and has now put on almost 300 shows in the past 25 years. Past tour performers include Kurt Browning, Jamie Salé, David Pelletier and Kristi Yamaguchi.
Tickets go on sale Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. Special on-ice seating is available upon request. Tickets start at $26 and are available online. Group discounts are available for parties of 10 or more.
