Election forums planned in Vernon, Armstrong

A public forum will be held April 29th at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.

During the build-up to the May 14 provincial election several public forums will help the public get to know who this year's candidates are, and where they stand on local issues.

Liberal MLA Eric Foster, Conservative candidate Scott Anderson, and NDP candidate Mark Olsen are vying for the Vernon-Monashee MLA spot.

The Greater Vernon Performing Arts Centre will put on the first forum April 29th at 7 p.m. The forum allows candidates to state their platforms, and the public to ask questions in written form or by open mic. Pete McIntyre of Kiss FM will moderate the event.

The radio station will also host an open line forum for candidates May 7th, starting at 6 p.m.

A forum for the Shuswap-riding candidates will take place May 1st at the Armstrong Centennial Theatre. The event will start at 7p.m. The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce will host the event with chamber vice-chair Andrew Laird moderating.

The Shuswap candidates are Tom Birch of the Conservatives, Steve Gunner of the NDP, Greg Kyllo of the Liberals, and Chris George of the Green Party.
