PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - A Conservative MP under investigation by Elections Canada says recent allegations that some constituents participated in a donation reimbursement scheme are baseless.

Media reports have alleged that a company owned by Del Mastro's cousin reimbursed its employees for contributions to his campaign.

Speaking at an event in his riding of Peterborough, Ont., today, Del Mastro says the claims have hurt his family name in Peterborough.

Del Mastro, who is the prime minister's parliamentary secretary, also says the Elections Canada investigation is a disturbing situation.

He denies exceeding his spending limit during his 2008 re-election campaign.

Del Mastro says he has yet to be contacted by Elections Canada, but that he is more than willing to hand over the necessary documentation if asked.

None of the allegations have been proven in court and no charges have been laid.
