ELECTION 2014: Who won in the South Okanagan

SOUTH OKANAGAN - You voted and the results are in for the mayors and councils of the South Okanagan who will start their four-year terms in December.

Summerland welcomes new mayor Peter Waterman, who won with 1,197 votes. Joining him on council is Toni Boot with 2,819 votes; Erin Trainer with 2,214 votes; Erin Carlson with 2,096 votes; Richard Barkwill with 1,843 votes; Janet Peake with 1,707 votes and Doug Holmes with 1,650 votes.

Oliver Mayor Ron Hovanes reclaimed his seat by acclamation as did rural water councillors Rick Machial and Andre Miller.  Councillors Maureen Doer (837), Larry Schwartzenberger (758) and Jack Bennest (754) reclaimed their seats and will be joined by newcomer Petra Veintimilla, who received the most votes with 899.

Sue McKortoff won the mayoral seat in Osoyoos by a landslide, earning 1,285 votes compared to the 290 votes received by runner up Ray Vandenberg. Elected to council was CJ Rhodes with 1,199 votes; Carol Youngberg with 1,199 votes; Mike Campol with 1,073 votes and Jim King with 1,050 votes.

Mayor Manfred Bauer reclaimed his spot in Keremeos with 302 votes, as did councillor Jeremy Evans with 300 votes and Arlene Arlow with 240 votes. Newly elected council members are Sherry Philpott-Adhikary (296) and Jason Wiebe (347).
