CORRECTION: Elderly woman dies in van in Vernon

An 80-year-old woman was killed when the medical scooter she was in rolled out of a modified-van which was travelling down 25 Avenue in Vernon, Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015.

VERNON – An 80-year-old Vernon woman died after falling out of her motorized wheelchair while in the back of a modified-van Sunday morning.

RCMP were called to the 4300-block of 25 Avenue near a Petro-Canada gas station around 9:40 a.m., Sept. 6, to assist B.C. Ambulance paramedics, according to Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

Noseworthy says the van was travelling down 25 Avenue when the woman slipped out of her medical chair inside the vehicle, causing an undisclosed injury.

She says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both the RCMP and B.C. Corners Service are investigating.

The woman’s name hasn’t been released.
