A suspect vehicle nearly hit an elderly woman and her dog while fleeing from police in Kelowna last week.

Back on Oct. 24, RCMP arrested a man who allegedly drove a black Ford Escape dangerously on Ethel Street and K.L.O. Road in effort to get away.

"During this incident, police officers observed several vehicles having to avoid collision with the black Ford Escape including the suspect vehicle narrowly missing an elderly woman walking her dog on Ethel Street," reads an RCMP media release issued, Oct. 29.

RCMP don't say why the suspect was trying to flee.

Jaskaran Lidder, 24, from the Lower Mainland was arrested and charged with flight from a peace officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, RCMP say.

Lidder is scheduled to be back in court Tuesday.

Anyone who saw the chase and hasn’t spoken to police is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2024-62955.
