At about 10:38 a.m. today, April 28, Ashcroft RCMP and the B.C. Ambulance Service responded to a crash involving a car and a pickup truck at the intersection of the Trans Canada Highway and Highway 97, according to an RCMP media release.

"A southbound car with one elderly male occupant turning left onto highway 97C turned into the path of a northbound pickup truck with two occupants," Sgt. Mike Pears says in the release. "The elderly male driver, who is from the immediate area, succumbed to his injuries prior to arrival at hospital."

RCMP do not say if the occupants in the pickup truck were injured.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call the Central Interior Traffic Services unit in Ashcroft at 250-453-2216.
