Elderly man dies in Penticton apartment fire

An elderly man was found dead after Penticton Fire Department responded to an apartment fire this weekend.

An elderly man was found dead after Penticton Fire Department responded to an apartment fire this weekend.

Firefighters arrived around 10 p.m. to the scene on Saturday, Dec. 10, where one apartment until was fully engulfed, according to a Penticton RCMP news release.

An elderly woman was taken to Penticton Regional Hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

All other residents escaped the building safely, according to the news release.

The City of Penticton is organizing emergency support services for displaced residents from the Lakeshore Drive apartment.

Penticton Fire investigators, Penticton RCMP and B.C. Coroner's Service are all investigating the blaze, but it's not believed to be criminal.
