Elderly Kelowna scooter driver rushed to hospital after crash with vehicle

An elderly man is being treated in hospital for injuries incurred this afternoon when his motorized scooter crashed into a vehicle.

Kelowna Mounties were called to the intersection of  Benvoulin and Fisher roads today, May 13, just after 1 p.m. to assist emergency medical crews who were responding to a report of a pedestrian involved collision.

"Initial reports are that a motorized scooter collided with a vehicle," RCMP Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a press release.

"The elderly pedestrian, a man believed to be in his 70s, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to local hospital for emergency medical care."

The investigation is still in the preliminary stages, and RCMP are still on scene.
