PENTICTON - An evacuation alert has been issued for eight properties near Naramata.

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen issued a voluntary evacuation alert for the properties, all located at the end of Indian Rock Road north of Naramata. Chute Creek has already caused damage to one home near Okanagan Lake, according to a press release from the regional district.

The flooding has now limited the access to the eight properties. The Naramata Fire Department and local search and rescue team members have checked in with the residents.

Nearby, Glenfir Road has been damaged by flooding. Repairs are planned for today.

A reception centre has been set up in case residents do choose to evacuate. It’s located at the regional district office at 101 Martin St. in Penticton. For more information, call 250-492-0237.

The properties under voluntary evacuation are:

6749, 6751, 6757, 6761, 6765, 6769, 6771 and 6775 Indian Rock Rd.

The regional district is warning there has been localized flooding in other parts of the region and for residents to stay back from the edge for safety.
