Vernon RCMP arrested three people yesterday after an SUV made multiple attempts to flee police.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the vehicle was linked with a hit and run near Tronson Road earlier yesterday, July 12, before being spotted in East Hill at 5:30 p.m.
Police attempted to stop the white Volkswagen Tiguan near the intersection of 25 Avenue and 32 Street by pulling in front of it and turning their emergency lights on.
However, the vehicle reversed and then drove forward clipping the police cruiser before it continued south of Highway 97.
The SUV was finally brought to a halt near the Army Cadet Camp and all three occupants were arrested.
"This was a dynamic situation that unfolded very quickly," Vernon RCMP Const. Chris Terleski said in a media release.
Along with the hit and run, police say the vehicle was also involved in other instances that day.
The three occupants are all from the Lower Mainland and two were released after being arrested.
Another, the driver, a 28-year-old Surrey man remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court later today.
