A routine traffic stop in late January in Kamloops netted RCMP cash and drugs, and two suspects.

Kamloops RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a prohibited driver on Jan. 31 in the parking lot of a motel in the Valleyview area, according to an RCMP media release.

The driver attempted to flee on foot but was arrested. A male passenger was also apprehended by police when he attempted to intervene in the arrest of the driver.

Police found nearly $3,000 in cash as well as 262 grams of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine and methamphetamine. Police also recovered a data card printer believed used for producing identification.

The vehicle was also impounded for seven days.

RCMP say findings from the investigation have been forwarded to the public prosecutor’s office for review and consideration of charges.
