Interior Health has issued a drug alert for Penticton.
Drugs of a black, tar-like chunky substance sold as Fentanyl should be checked as they could contain benzodiazepines and fentanyl.
The combination offers a high risk of overdose with prolonged sedation. Those affected may not respond to Naloxone and will need continued breaths as medical attention is sought in the event of overdose.
The alert was issued this afternoon and is in effect until Feb. 10.
