The City of Kelowna wants to clear its roads properly this weekend so nobody’s allowed to park on snow routes starting tomorrow.

At 10:30 a.m. today, Dec. 18, the city warned drivers whose cars are parked on certain streets that they have 24 hours to move their cars.

“We have had 10 units out plowing since midnight, which was increased to 20 units around 2 a.m., which is our current complement,” Geert Bos, public works manager, said in a press release. “The teams are currently focused on maintaining Priority 1 routes.”

The designated snow routes are on Academy Way, Black Mountain, Clifton/Magic Estates/Wilden, Dilworth Mountain, Kirschner Mountain, McKinley Beach and areas in the South Mission.

Vehicles that are still there tomorrow can be fined $50 and towed.

Those not living a snow route are also being asked to move their vehicles off the road to help plows.
