CLINTON - A dog found by RCMP monitoring the Elephant Hill wildfire has now been returned to his owners.
Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a news release that on Monday, Aug. 7, officers were manning checkpoints on Highway 99 near Pavilion Lake when a tired, worn out dog was seen wandering the highway.
The older golden lab happily accepted a ride from RCMP members to the Clinton detachment, where arrangements were made with the SPCA.
Officers working in the area spread the word, and before long the dog's owners were located.
"He was none worse for wear, after a night of food, water, scritchy scratches and cuddles," Moskaluk says.
The dog was brought to the Clinton RCMP detachment by officers.
