RCMP say a grassfire in Kelowna last night appears to have been deliberately set.

The grassfire, behind the 500 block of Long Ridge Drive, was extinguished by Kelowna firefighters just after 9 p.m. yesterday, July 20.

“We believe this fire was human caused and we are actively investigating,” RCMP Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy said in a news release.

“Thankfully it was extinguished quickly, and no one was injured. We are now appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by leaving a tip online at www.crimestoppers.net.
