Death of man in Kamloops hotel room deemed not suspicious

KAMLOOPS - The death of a man in a Kamloops hotel room last month has been deemed not suspicious by police.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says an autopsy was performed on the 25-year-old Kamloops area man and his death is not suspicious.

It's not yet clear how he died, or who he was, but hotel staff notified RCMP on Aug. 10 after a body was found in a hotel room on Columbia Street West.

Police said at the time it was too soon to determine whether his death was considered suspicious.

B.C. Coroners Service spokesperson Andy Watson says the death is still under investigation to determine a cause. He says the identity of the man has not been made public.

"Due to the privacy of the deceased, per the Coroners Act, we will not be identifying the deceased or confirming identity at this time," Watson says.

He says no further information on the Coroners investigation is available.
