KAMLOOPS - A cyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a semi-truck in east Kamloops last night.
Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says the 42-year-old cyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was hit by a car at approximately 6:30 p.m. yesterday, Dec. 18, while crossing Highway 1 at Vicars Road in Valleyview.
Witnesses and the driver of the semi-truck told police that the driver was heading eastbound through a green light at Vicars Road. The cyclist crossed on a red light across the westbound lanes, and into the eastbound lanes where he was struck.
