A now two-hectare wildfire that was sparked near Chase yesterday afternoon is being held.
Taylor MacDonald, fire information officer with Kamloops Fire Centre, says crews are now on scene to extinguish any hotspots in the Cheif Jules Way fire.
“We have six personnel responding today to check on the overnight recovery and extinguish any hotspots within the perimeter there,” MacDonald says. “They are working on that steeper terrain there, but they will be helped by those cooler overnight temperatures we had last night.”
The fire sparked about three kilometres northeast of Chase and west of Highway 1 yesterday, April 7. It is believed that the fire was human-caused.
Yesterday, B.C. Wildfire personnel were assisted by the Adams Lake Fire Department. It is not clear if the department is still assisting as calls have not been returned.
