LOGAN LAKE - Crews will be back on scene in the Tunkwa Lake area to battle a large blaze this morning.
B.C. Wildfire fire information officer Jody Lucius says the latest numbers estimate the fire to be between 25 and 150 hectares, with smoke causing problems getting a more accurate estimate.
"We do have crews en route out there as we speak," Lucius says. "There were 17 crew members that stayed to work on the fire overnight last night.”
Lucius says last night crews focused on hot spots that could have flared up to try and limit how much the blaze spread.
Air tankers and a helicopter helped battle the fire into yesterday evening, and Lucius says air support may be called in again today, May 16.
The fire, which is near the Logan Lake area, is suspected to be human-caused. Crews responded to the fire yesterday, May 15.
Although smoke has drifted into Kamloops, the B.C. government's air quality health index shows a low-risk rating for the city today.
