KAMLOOPS - It took crews quite some time to put out a burning load of logs on a logging truck in Kamloops today.

Kamloops Fire Rescue Platoon Capt. Steve Butchart says crews are dealing with the fire that was called in at approximately 11:30 a.m. today, May 10.

"The load itself, the logs were on fire," Butchart says.

One engine and two water tenders responded to Highway 1 in the Dallas area to try and extinguish the blaze. He says the majority of the fire is out and crews have taken the logging truck to an open area where they can unload the logs, and make sure the fire is fully extinguished.

Butchart says no injuries were reported, and a cause for the fire won't be known until fire prevention officers launch an investigation.

Kamloops RCMP sent out a news release earlier today warning eastbound motorists to avoid the area of Highway 1 and the Dallas off-ramp due to a vehicle incident.
