All westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of the East Trans Canada Highway near Valleyview have started to reopen following a motor-vehicle collision which claimed two lives earlier today.
Kamloops RCMP officers responded to the area of Grand Boulevard just before 10 a.m., Feb. 15, for a report of a collision involving a jack-knifed semi trailer.
"When police arrived on scene they observed a green Toyota 4Runner in the eastbound ditch and a jack-knife semi trailer further down the highway. Two of the Toyota’s four occupants were deceased when police arrived. The other two were taken to hospital with unknown injuries," according to an RCMP press release.
All eastbound lanes and one westbound lane of the highway were closed from Grand Boulevard near Holman Road.
Police are still investigating details surrounding the collision, but weather is believed to be a factor. Anyone with dash camera footage featuring the Toyota 4Runner during or near the time of the crash is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP and reference file 2021-4830.
