CP Holiday Train food bank fundraiser will remain virtual this winter

FILE PHOTO - The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train will be hosting a virtual train experience this winter for the second year in a row.

The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train, which typically rolls through Kamloops and Salmon Arm each year, will be hosting a virtual train experience this winter for the second year in a row.

Similar to last year, CP Rail will be donating to food banks along its regular route and will host a virtual concert to highlight the ongoing need for food banks, according to a CP Rail press release.

This is the Holiday Train program’s 23rd year and live music has always been part of the tradition. The details of the virtual benefit concert have yet to be announced.

"The spirit of the Holiday Train is about giving generously and inspiring those around us to give as well," said Keith Creel, CP president and chief executive officer, in the press release. "While we are disappointed we again cannot bring the Holiday Train to communities, we are honoured to run a virtual program and continue to support communities and food banks across our network as they work to address food insecurity in North America."

CP launched the Holiday Train in 1999, and raised $19.4 million and collected $4.9 million pounds of food for community food banks along the CP’s network. Live music has always been part of the CP Holiday Train tradition.
