A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at Kelowna General Hospital.
Interior Health announced the outbreak on April 12, in the rehab unit at the hospital. According to an Interior Health spokesperson, 20 cases have been reported in the outbreak.
In Kamloops, two other COVID-19 outbreaks continue in the long-term care facilities, The Hamlets at Westsyde, declared April 7, and the Overlander, April 2.
The latest data shows there were 523 new cases recorded in the week leading up to April 9 in Interior Health and 1,770 in B.C.

It says there were 80 people in hospital in Interior Health with six in intensive care but it doesn’t say if that’s as of April 14 or April 9.
It reports eight deaths over the week. There were 23 deaths in B.C. as a whole during the week.
The case count and hospitalization numbers undercount the real situation in the province since most COVID-19 tests are rapid tests so they’re not recorded and about half the hospitalization numbers are people who are in hospital for other reasons and test positive while they’re in there.
B.C.’s provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said it’s likely that 50% of B.C. residents have contracted COVID-19.
The B.C. Centre for Disease Control's statistics show 91% of those 18 years and older have received two doses of a vaccine. Those ages five to 11 who have had two shots is now 40 per cent.
Omicron remains the most common variant infection among B.C. residents.
