A COVID-19 outbreak at Keremeos’s Orchard Haven long-term care facility has been declared over.

Interior Health made the announcement this morning, May 20, after two COVID-19 cases were discovered at the care home.

One resident and one staff member were infected.

"Even a small outbreak creates challenges for the staff and they have done a fantastic job at Orchard Haven,” Interior Health president and CEO Susan Brown said in a press release.

An outbreak is declared over when two incubation periods or 28 days have passed from the last onset of symptoms in a resident.

“The staff at Orchard Haven did an excellent job of containing this outbreak,” Interior Health chief medical officer Dr. Albert de Villiers said in the release.
