Interior Heath has announced a COVID-19 exposure at a Kelowna school this month.

École De L'Anse-Au-Sable is is a French-language elementary and secondary school located in Kelowna, and recently the health authority announced that cases were confirmed at the school Oct. 13, 14 and 15.

When a case of COVID-19 is confirmed, Interior Health public health works quickly to determine close contacts and will contact parents or guardians of students who are considered to be at risk, according to the health authority.

With school back in session, last month provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and health minister Adrian Dix said the B.C. Centre for Disease Control website offers updates on COVID-19 cases in schools.

One of the biggest concerns with COVID-19 is the unidentified spread of the virus in B.C. communities. This is why getting tested as soon as you have symptoms is so important, they said last month.

If parents or children develop any symptoms of COVID-19, please get tested and then self isolate, according to IH.

For more information, see the  centre for disease control's page on schools, including the Daily Health Check Form to determine if a student should attend school.
