A couple sitting in their vehicle along Lakeshore Drive in Penticton were allegedly bear sprayed by a stranger earlier this month.

Officers responded to a report at around 7:24 p.m., Sept. 10, that people had been assaulted with bear spray while sitting in their vehicle at 944 Lakeshore Dr. West, according to an RCMP media release.

“An unknown man exited out of a four-door sedan, black in colour, and approached a couple who were sitting inside their vehicle,” reads the RCMP release. “The suspect sprayed bear spray through the couples' open passenger window. The man then immediately returned to his own vehicle and departed.”

RCMP describe the suspect as a balding Caucasian male with a heavy build and a beard. He was wearing an orange-reddish coloured T-shirt with black pants.

If you witnessed this incident, or have any other information, you’re asked to call the Penticton RCMP at 250-492-4300.
