WEST KELOWNA – A Penticton man and a Salmon Arm woman were arrested after RCMP saw them throw a stack of stolen mail out of their moving vehicle earlier this week.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says James Gordon, 35, and Ashlyn Johnson, 26, were arrested shortly after 3 a.m. April 2 after officers saw them “prowling through the Shannon Lake area.”

“An RCMP officer had been conducting patrols in the area of Shannon Woods Drive and Tallus Ridge Drive, when he spotted a white Volkswagen Jetta being driven suspiciously without its tail lights on,” he says in a media release.

He says the officer saw one of the occupants throw what was later confirmed to be a stack of stolen mail, “all over the roadway.”

Investigators found in the vehicle large amounts of property in the Volkswagen, believed to have been stolen from vehicles.

Both occupants were arrested, and their vehicle seized as part of the ongoing police investigation.
