The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 4-2 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna.

The Cougars scored twice in the second and added two more in the third to hand the Rockets the loss, dropping Kelowna to 11-10-0-0 on the season.

The game was scoreless after the first period before the Cougars jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second.

Tomas Soustal scored his ninth of the season to cut the lead to 2-1 before the end of the period.

In the third, Prince George jumped out to a 3-1 lead with an early marker.

But  Kelowna’s Calvin Thurkauf scored his 9th of the year to make it 3-2, putting home a rebound as the Rockets got back within a goal. But that was as close as Kelowna could get as the Cougars added an empty net goal to seal the victory.

The Cougars outshot Kelowna 36 to 24 in the game with Michael Herringer suffering the loss in the Rockets net.

Kelowna held Prince George to 0-for-5 with the man advantage while scoring twice on four opportunities.

The Rockets will close out a four game homestand on Friday night when they play host to the Vancouver Giants.

Tickets are available for Rockets home games through www.selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050.

The Rockets will also take on Victoria this weekend, travelling to Vancouver Island to begin two straight games against the Royals on Sunday and next Tuesday.
