Cops nab Enderby man in Dollar Store armed robbery

June 18, 2019 - 10:42 AM

ENDERBY - A 25-year-old Enderby man linked to a spate of crimes, was arrested yesterday afternoon after holding up the Dollar Store with a knife.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the 25-year-old entered the Dollar Store at 606 Cliff Ave. in Enderby, just before 3:00 p.m. yesterday, June 17, and threatened the lone member of staff with a knife. The suspect attempted to open the cash register but failed, and instead grabbed the entire till and fled on foot.

RCMP officers as well as a Police Service Dog and Forensic Identification Unit, scoured the area in an effort to find the suspect.

"Through further investigation, front line officers were able to quickly identify a possible suspect," RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett said in the release. "After extensive patrols were made, the keen eye of one of our officers, spotted the male in the distance and was able to take him into custody without further incident."

Brett said in the release that further investigation has now connected the suspect to nine different investigations, including four alleged robbery cases in the area over the past month.

No one was injured as a result of the alleged robbery. The cash register was found full and intact nearby.

The suspect is due to appear in court today, June 18.
