Cooler than normal to start the Okanagan weather week

It might be a little easier for Okanagan residents to maintain social distance and self-isolation this week with a forecast better suited to being indoors due to cooler than normal temperatures, clouds and maybe some showers.

The weather isn’t offering a great reason to go outside today, March 23, with Environment Canada calling for mainly cloudy skies and a 60 per cent chance of showers this afternoon and into this evening.

It will be cool with a high of 10 Celsius in Vernon and Kelowna, with a low of -2 C and wind at 15 km/h.

Penticton should reach a high of 9 C and a low of -1 C.

Tuesday’s going to be cool as well, with a high of 8 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 7 C in Penticton and low of -7 C under a sun and cloud mix.

Wednesday promises to be the nicest day of the week, with sunny skies and a high of 7 C and a low of -4 C expected.

Cloudy skies are expected to dominate Okanagan skies Thursday through Saturday with a slow warmup in temperatures into the weekend.

The daily highs rise by a couple of degrees each day with Thursday at 6 C, Friday at 8 C and Saturday at 10 C.

Overnight temperatures are expected to stay above O C, with lows of 1 C on Thursday, 3 C on Friday and 5 C on Saturday, along with a 50 per cent chance of some showers Saturday night.

Sunday could be wet, with a 60 per cent possibility of showers and a high reaching 11 C.

The Okanagan normally sees a high of 11 C and a low of 0 C this time of year.
