A washroom building will soon be added to the North Okanagan section of the Okanagan Rail Trail.

The Regional District of North Okanagan is set to begin construction on a new washroom building July 13 which will be completed by the end of 2020, according a regional district news release.

The building will have two universal stalls, a dog water station and a drinking fountain. The washroom will cost $220,000.

“A simple-to-follow detour will be located around the construction site between the Kickwillie Loop and the Westkal Road trail entrance,” general manager of community services Mike Fox said in the release.

Trail users are encouraged to park at the Coldstream Station, 16506 Kalamalka Road, as there will be limited parking at the Kickwillie Loop and Westkal Road trail entrance.

Further trail closures will be announced as the district receives project updates. Residents are encouraged to visit the regional district's website here for detailed maps indicating closed sections.
