Conservative Dan Albas has been elected to his fourth term as an MP in the riding of Central Okanagan-Similkameen-Nicola.
With 85 of 247 polls reporting at press time, Albas was ahead with 44.9% of the vote compared to Liberal Sarah Eves at 27% of the vote and 18% for Joan Philip of the NDP.
His re-election was rarely in doubt. In his four election campaigns, he polled 54% of the overall vote in 2011, 39% in 2015, 48% in 2019.
His first victory in 2011 was before the riding was reconfigured to its existing boundaries in 2012.
Albas’ victory came as no surprise since he was given a 96% chance of winning by Canada 338.
Albas is the former owner of a martial arts school and a Penticton city councillor.
In the last session of Parliament, Albas was the vice-chair of the Environment and Sustainable Development committee.
