The end of summer is quickly approaching with only two weekends left to fill up with summer fun before kids go back to school and families return to regular schedules.
Noisy, brightly coloured high energy events are in the works, and here are few of them in case you want to jump into the commotion.
Race day at the Penticton speedway is coming and the event is family friendly with lots of food trucks and live music provided. It is the second and last oval track race for the season, the last chance this year to see and hear the cars roaring around the track.
The Avion RS1 Oval Track Race day runs from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday Aug. 19. Go here for more information.
It is the sixth year for Kelowna ComiCon, a two-day pop culture event packed with contests, games and fun for the whole family. Visitors can expect to see bold, creative costumes, artists and cosplayers, with a variety of vendors onsite.
The event is a celebration of all different fandoms from comics to sci-fi, anime, fantasy and video games and everyone is welcome to join the fun.
Kelowna ComiCon is happening at Mission Recreation Park at 4105 Gordon Drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday Aug. 19/20. More details can be found here.

Vernon is getting invaded by Vancouver and Winnipeg heavy metal bands for a night of mosh madness at Record City downtown.
Juice, Meantime, Delinquent are the heavy metal bands lined up make some noise and get the crowd moshing, with more bands to be announced.
Organized by Okanagan Valley Hardcore, the party runs from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night, Aug. 19. The events is open to all ages and cheaper advance tickets can be purchased here.

The drive-in theatre in Kamloops will be all shades of pink for two evenings in a row as the Kamloops Film Society will be showing the newly released Barbie movie that first hit theatres on July 21 and is becoming one of the highest grossing movies of the year. The movie follows Barbie as she goes on an adventure after being expelled from Barbieland.
Located at 5355 Yellowhead Highway, the movie is showing at 8:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, Aug. 18/19. Go here for tickets and more information.
