Clouds, showers, sun — everything you could want in one Okanagan forecast

If you're seeking sun this week, Wednesday looks like the best bet, with a forecast calling for a mix of sun and cloud.

If you liked the mix of showers and sun that defined this Okanagan weekend then you're in luck. The weather will continue to be moody in the immediate days ahead.

Even a hint of summer weather has been delayed in the Okanagan valley this year, as yet another week of cloudy, cool and constantly changing conditions are forecast for the valley.

Environment Canada says the Okanagan should see mostly cloudy conditions with a 70 per cent chance of showers today.

Winds should be southwest at 20 km/h gusting to 40 this afternoon.

Today’s high should reach 17 C in Vernon and Kelowna, 18 C in Penticton, with the low down to 6 C.

There is also a 40 per cent chance of showers early this evening before skies become partly cloudy.

Tuesday should see skies clouding over in the morning with a 60 per cent chance of showers this afternoon. Tuesday’s high should reach 16 C with a low to 8 C.

Wednesday could be the brightest day of the week, with a mix of sun and cloud. Wednesday's high should reach 22 C, with a low of 11 C predicted.

There’s more clouds forecast for Thursday, with a 60 per cent chance of showers, along with a high of 22 C and a low of 14 C.

With the weekend, comes more wet weather. Friday’s forecast for the Okanagan calls for showers, with a high of 22 C and a low of 13 C.

The showers should continue overnight Friday.

Clouds and a 60 per cent chance of showers pretty much sum up Saturday and Sunday, with highs reaching 21 C on Saturday and 22 C on Sunday.

Saturday’s overnight low should reach 13 C, along with a continuing expectation of a 60 per cent chance of showers.

Oh, yes, there’s more clouds and a 60 per cent chance of showers expected Sunday, along with a high of 23 C.

Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton residents normally experience daily highs of 23 C and lows of 9 C this time of year.

If you're looking for a silver lining for that wonky weather it's that we aren't alone. The Weather Network reports drenching rains fell in Alberta and Saskatchewan on the weekend, prompting flood warnings for Lac La Biche County on Sunday afternoon.

The poor weather is expected to reach Manitoba today, where 30 to 50 mm of rain could fall during possibly severe thunderstorms.
