VERNON – A car crash in Vernon Sunday morning could have been much worse.
A young driver behind the wheel of a four-door sedan lost control while turning from South Vernon Drive onto Okanagan Avenue around 11:30, Sept. 6, according to Vernon Fire Department Capt. Reinhard Mann.
“He went over a four-metre concrete abutment,” he says.
A chain link fence on top of the concrete caught the car and stopped it from rolling over.
“If the fence hadn’t been there they probably would have rolled over and got trapped,” Mann says.
Both the driver and the family member who was with him weren't hurt and got out of the vehicle on their own.
RCMP are investigating.
