Police are investigating two serious incidents in Chase — a shooting and hit and run crash — that may be connected.
Chase RCMP responded to reports of the shooting along Squilax Anglemont Road at around 3 a.m. Aug. 20.
A man had been hit and was located by police after he fled the scene. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
"A suspect has been identified and although no arrests have been made, Chase RCMP would like to reassure the public that they do not believe this was a random incident," Sgt. Barry Kennedy said in an RCMP release.
"Our investigators have reason to believe that the suspect and the victim were known to each other, therefore the public is not at risk."
The second incident occurred while police were dealing with the shooting, when a motorcycle was involved in a serious collision with two vehicles, one of which fled the scene.
Police are looking for a white Ford Explorer believed to have extensive damage to its front end.
The operator of the motorcycle suffered potentially life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital.
Police have not yet ruled out the possibility that these two incidents may be related, and urge anyone with additional information to reach out to the Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221.
