Charges laid in Kamloops BB gun incident near middle school

Police in front of Brocklehurst Middle School after an incident involving a group of youth and a BB gun March 2, 2017.

KAMLOOPS - Three youth have been charged with assault with a weapon in connection to a BB gun incident near Brock Middle School.

All three were arrested on scene yesterday, March 2, after another youth was sent to hospital after being shot with the gun.

Kamloops RCMP Staff Sgt. Robert Daly says in a news release that one of the three males who has been charged was re-arrested after his initial release yesterday for breaching conditions and will be held in custody pending a court appearance today.

Daly says the male who was shot has since been released from hospital. All four males are known to each other and don't go to Brock Middle School.

Kamloops RCMP responded to a weapons call near the school yesterday shortly after noon. The incident happened off school grounds but in close proximity, which led to the school being placed in lock down until police resolved the incident.

Police are still investigating and are asking anyone who witnessed this incident to contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
