Chance of showers today but should still be a nice weekend in the Okanagan

Beachgoers enjoy some of the recent hot weather on Kelowna's City Beach. There may be some showers today, with more sun but cooler temperatures to follow for the weekend.

There are a few showers in the Okanagan forecast today, but things should clear up in time for the weekend.

Increasing clouds this morning are expected to lead to a 60 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon.

This afternoon's weather could include the risk of a thunderstorm as winds become southwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40 in the afternoon.

Today should be considerably cooler than it has been recently, with a high of 24 Celsius and a low of 12 C expected.

There’s a 40 per cent chance of showers overnight before skies clear to a sun and cloud mix on Friday.

Friday’s high is expected to reach 22 C with a low to 11 C.

The weekend looks promising with a forecast calling for sunny skies on Saturday and Sunday, with highs of 24 C and 29 C respectively.

Overnight lows are expected to dip to 11 C on Saturday and 13 C on Sunday.

Mostly sunny conditions return Monday with a high of 29 C and a low of 15 C.

There’s a 30 per cent possibility of showers on Tuesday and Wednesday next week, with a high of 25 C expected Tuesday and 23 C on Wednesday.

Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton’s normal high and low for early August is 29 C and 13 C..
